A puppy from Cork has been selected to represent the region in the Petmania Puppy of the Year 2026 Grand Final. The dog, named Goose, is participating in a national competition that highlights the best young dogs in Ireland. The event will take place in Dublin, where judges will evaluate the puppies based on their temperament, health, and overall suitability for family life.
Goose, a breed yet to be officially identified, was chosen after a rigorous selection process that included local competitions and regional trials. The owner, a local resident in Fermoy, has been preparing the puppy for the final for several months. The competition is organized by Petmania, a well-known pet care brand in Ireland.
The Petmania Puppy of the Year contest has been running for over a decade, with the goal of promoting responsible pet ownership and showcasing the qualities of young dogs. Previous winners have gone on to represent Ireland in international competitions. This year’s final will feature puppies from across the country, with the winner receiving a prize package valued at over €5,000.
