Storm Boelo has triggered fresh weather warnings in Ireland, adding to the challenges faced by communities still recovering from the impacts of Storm Austen. The National Meteorological Service, Met Éireann, has issued orange and yellow alerts for wind and rain, signaling the arrival of a second storm within three days. This follows the widespread damage caused by Storm Austen, which brought powerful winds and heavy rainfall to parts of the country.
Storm Austen led to significant disruptions, including power outages affecting approximately 3,000 homes, farms, and businesses. ESB crews were deployed to address the outages, which were concentrated in several regions. Flooding fears and travel disruptions were reported in Cork, with local authorities working to manage the aftermath.
The recent storms highlight the increasing frequency of severe weather events in the region. Residents have been advised to prepare for further disruptions as Storm Boelo approaches. The situation underscores the ongoing challenges posed by changing weather patterns and the need for continued vigilance and preparedness.
