National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED) returns in Ireland on Thursday, 15 October, commemorating two decades of promoting female entrepreneurship. The event, organized by the National Women’s Enterprise Network, will feature free activities in Donegal and other regions. The initiative highlights the role of women in business and aims to inspire future generations.
The 20th anniversary of NWED is a milestone for the organization, which has supported women-led businesses since 2004. This year’s events include workshops, networking opportunities, and public talks. The focus is on celebrating achievements and addressing challenges faced by women in business.
NWED began as a response to the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles within the business sector. Over the past two decades, the program has helped increase the number of women-owned businesses in Ireland. The anniversary reflects progress but also underscores the ongoing need for support and policy changes to ensure gender equality in entrepreneurship.
